Rost Architects to Start Construction on Luxury Newport Beach Duplex December 2020
Rost Architects is on track to secure permits from the city of Newport Beach and begin construction on a luxury multifamily duplex in December of 2020 on the Balboa Peninsula. Rost Architects worked closely with the developer to create a design that will hopefully set a new standard for the luxury duplexes market in the area. Rost Architects served as the project Architect, Interior Designer and Landscape Designer on the project.
The building is on a 50’ wide lot on the Balboa Peninsula with views on both sides of the building to the ocean. Each unit will have expansive roof decks on the upper level equipped with outdoor fireplace, outdoor dining/living and cooking. The architecture on the building will be contemporary with large expanses of glass, dramatic cantilevers and clean detailing. Both units will be over 3,000 square feet of interior habitable space with three bedrooms, large master suite and rooftop loft. The master suite on both units will have large balconies with ocean views.
On the first level, outside of the main living spaces, will be a series of spacious outdoor gardens. The large sliding glass doors at each of the living spaces will pocket into the wall and disappear allowing for direct connection between the garden and living spaces.
The connection between interior and the landscape was critical to the overall vision of the project. We wanted the people inside the living spaces have the ability to open the sliding doors and feel like they were in their garden.
The landscape is made up of canary island date palms, blue yucca, foxtail agave, blue fescue and agave americana. Large sandstone boulders and river rock will make up the ground cover between the plantings.
We are currently working through permitting at the city and hope to have all approvals in place by the end of November 2020 so we can break ground before the new year. Stay tuned for updates on the project.
